I am privileged to have been appointed as the Head, Department of English Language Teaching (ELT) of National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad, Pakistan. This is one of the first departments that started functioning with the establishment of National Institute of Modern Languages, by the Pakistan Army in the late 1960s. The department offers ELT Programs, English Language Programs and ESP Programs to help the learners improve their English expression with a view to enhancing their skills and expertise as professionals and/or scholars.

Overview

Established as National Institute of Modern Languages by the Pakistan Army in the late 1960s, NUML has the singular distinction of being the only modern languages university in the country. Department of English Language Teaching (ELT)  came into existence simultaneously with the founding of erstwhile National Institute of Modern Languages in the late 1960s.  Since its inception, the department has functioned as a useful component of NUML to accomplish the assigned mission, efficaciously. The courses offered by the Department include; Foundation, Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in English language both in the morning and in the afternoon shifts. In afternoon shift International English Language Testing System and English Speaking Proficiency Course are also offered.
