On February 19, 2025, the French Department at NUML organized the International French Teachers' Day in collaboration with the Embassy of France in Islamabad and the Alliance Française d’Islamabad. The purpose of celebrating this day was to appreciate the efforts of French language teachers around the world.
More than 50 French language teachers from all over Pakistan participated in the event. The teachers associated with various institutions from Karachi and Lahore have traveled to Islamabad and joined the event. The Ambassador of France to Pakistan His Excellency Nicolas Galey and the Romanian Ambassador His Excellency Dan Stoenescu graced the occasion with their presence. Before the event, they met with the Rector NUML in his office. In the meeting, the need was emphasized to increase cooperation with France and Romania, especially in the field of education and research.
In the opening session, the Dean Faculty of Languages, Prof. Dr. Jamil Asghar Jami, delivered the opening speech. The Rector NUML, in his remarks, paid tribute to French educators & their role in global language learning.
The French Ambassador, in his views, appreciated the efforts of NUML in the promotion of French language and culture. The Director General NUML, Brigadier Shahzad Munir, and Pro-Rector Academics Prof. Dr. Muhammad Safeer Awan were also present at the moment. Certificates were presented to students in recognition of excelling in DELF exams At the end of the opening session, the Rector, the French and Romanian Ambassadors and the DG NUML distributed certificates to students who successfully passed the DELF examinations held in 2024.
The French film “Les Choristes” (The Chorus) was screened in the Jinnah Auditorium, Salam Block, NUML, where the Rector, the DG and Dean FOL watched the film along with the French Ambassador and other diplomats from the French Embassy. The students from various faculties and departments watched the movie that was subtitled in English. The French Embassy organized a French Buffet Lunch at NUML in honor of the French language teachers of Pakistan. The French Education officer Ms. Domitille Robert organized a quiz for the teachers. The prizes among the winners of the quiz were also distributed at the end of the quiz. Mr. El-Hadi Jaghlal, a lecturer from French Department NUML organized a training workshop for the French language teachers. At the end, the certificates were distributed to the participants of the training workshop.
