On 12 November 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass) at the Department of Governance and Public Policy, National University of Modern Languages (NUML), as part of an enlightening session on the Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) and other U.S. scholarship programs.

Students from the Islamabad Japanese School visited NUML Islamabad and took part in various interactive activities with the students of the Department of Japanese Language.

Spring Festival
The Department of Japanese Language took part in the University’s Spring Festival held in April 2025. Students showcased Japanese culture by wearing traditional attire and demonstrating Shodō (Japanese calligraphy). They also created a beautiful photo booth with a Sakura tree and a Torii gate, which became a festival highlight. Participants enjoyed tasting Japanese food and playing games to win prizes, making the event lively and memorable.

Speech Contest
The Department of Japanese Language organized a Speech Contest in May 2025, providing students with an excellent opportunity to showcase their Japanese language skills. Distinguished judges were invited to evaluate the speeches, and all participants delivered their best performances. The top three students were awarded prizes in recognition of their outstanding efforts.

On 7 May at 11:00 AM, the Department of Russian Language organized a solemn event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. Students also recited Russian patriotic poems and performed a popular wartime song “Katyusha” dedicated to the Victory Day, evoking strong emotional responses from the audience.The ceremony concluded with a compelling address by the Director General of NUML, Brigadier Shahzad Munir.

On 23 September, the Department of Russian Language, Faculty of Languages, NUML hosted the quiz “Do You Know Russia.” The quiz turned into a discovery trip, because Russia’s vast history, geography, and culture ensure there’s always more to learn. Students from the Russian and other departments joined with great enthusiasm.

The Department of Russian Language at National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad, recently hosted an insightful lecture on “The Art of Translating Politico-Economic Texts: Basic Rules and Challenges,” delivered by Sergey Chekalin, Protocol Officer at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Pakistan. The event, held on October 3rd, 2025, at 09:30 AM in Iqbal Hall, Ibn-e-Rushd Block

NUML successfully hosted an MoUs signing ceremony on 25th Sept 2025 with leading industry partners to strengthen academia–industry linkages.
Industry leaders who joined hands with NUML include Dr. Ayesha Khan (CEO, Akhter Hameed Khan Foundation), Mr. Muhammad Ejaz (CEO, Arif Habib Dolmen REIT Management Ltd.), Ch. Mr. Safyan Shams, Lecturer GPP along with his students from the Department of Governance and Public Policy (G&PP), had the privilege to participate in the DataFest 2024 held at the Pak-China Friendship Center, Islamabad. The event, organized by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), kicked off with insightful introductory remarks by PBS Chief Statistician Naeem Zafar, followed by a speech by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary.

On September 11, 2024, the **Human Library Society proudly launched its Street Library Project at the *Department of Governance and Public Policy (G&PP). The initiative was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Riaz Shad, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), in the presence of Dr. Shahid Habib, Head of the Department (HOD), G&PP, along with esteemed faculty members.

Dept was honored to welcome prominent leaders from Pakistan’s real estate and REITs sector to NUML. Mr. Ejaz Ahmed (CEO, Dolmen Arif Habib REIT Management Company), and Mr. Zahid Latif Khan (Chairman, Redamco) visited the NUML and held insightful discussions with the Rector NUML and Director General.
